Day by day itinerary
DAY 1: Today
you travel by road from Dar-es-Salaam to the Old Farmhouse
in Iringa.
The farmhouse is a working farm offering superb accommodation.
(8-9- hrs drive)
Day 2: Today you travel to Tandala
Tented Camp on the boundary of Ruaha National Park. Ruaha
National Park has recently been combined with the Usanga
Game Reserve making the largest National Park in Africa covering
over 15,000 sq km. This new park itself is at the heart of a much
larger ecosystem covering over 40,000 sq km.
The lodge offers good standard tented accommodation.
The biggest attraction at Tandala is without a doubt the
abundance of elephants that come and go regularly attracted by the
water holes.
Day 5: You travel through
the highlands of Tanzania to Mikumi National Park. Mikumi National
Park is composed primarily of the Mkata River flood plain, this
is surrounded by gently rolling hills covered in miombo woodland.
In Mikumi you stay at Mikumi Wildlife Camp a good lodge ina
prime game viewing area.
Although less spectacular than some of the more illustrious
Tanzanian National Parks, Mikumi still offers a good safari
experience with typical flora and fauna of East Africa. There
is a rich variety of bird species as well as large numbers of
giraffes, buffaloes and elephants and close to the waterholes
lions, leopards and hippos. Furthermore you can see zebras,
wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala,
warthog, eland and other antelope. Several observation towers
enable you to view the park in its entirety.
Day 7: Today you return by vehicle to Dar-es-Salaam
(8-9- hrs drive).
