/ Zanzibar - The Ultimate Safari and Beach Itinerary
Departure from Dar es Salaam by train for Selous
Game Reserve, 4 days and 5 nights exploring different areas of the
magnificent Selous Game Reserve. Based at Sable Mountain Lodge,
2 nights are also spent fly camping beside the Mgeta River for the
ultimate safari experience. Foot safaris, game drives and a boat
safari on Lake Tagalala make this an unforgettable safari in one
of Africa's last true wilderness areas.
Fly to Zanzibar to stay at Ras Nungwi Beach
Hotel on the northern tip of Zanzibar. The perfect end to the trip
with a wide variety of watersports available including a fully equipped
on site dive center, deep sea fishing boats and waterskiing, or
alternatively just relax on the unspoilt white sand beach or by
the fresh water swimming pool.
Itinerary
Day 1
Depart TAZARA station, Dar es Salaam for Kisaki, Selous.
Trains depart Monday 10.00, Tuesday 15.50, Friday 15.50 and the
journey takes about 5 ½ hours passing through rural villages
and Selous Game Reserve. Overnight Sable Mountain Lodge.
Dinner.
Day 2
Full day game drive to Lake Tagalala passing the Selous grave. Boat
safari on Lake Tagalala, return to Sable Mountain Lodge.
All meals included.
Day 3
Game drive through the Kimara region of Selous to our fly camp by
the Mgeta River. Afternoon foot safari. Overnight Sable
Mountain Lodge. All meals included.
Day 4
Full day game drive in the Kinyanguru region of Selous, overnight
fly
camping. All meals included.
Day 5
Morning foot safari, game drive back to Sable Mountain Lodge.
All meals included.
Day 6
Relax at the lodge by the swimming pool or waterhole, lunch, afternoon
flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel.
Breakfast and dinner.
Day 7
Diving, fishing, snorkelling or a wide variety of watersports are
available at Ras Nungwi and excursions around the island can also
be organized at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 8
Day for leisure at the Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel.
Breakfast and dinner.
Day 9
Transfer to Stone Town, departure. Breakfast.
